The Interface¶
Light and dark mode¶
The theme of the UI can be changed in the Preferences page (click in the top-right account icon, see bellow).
By default, the UI is in "Auto", so it will adapt to the chosen style of your computer (light or dark), but you can chose one or the other. High contrast versions are also available.
Language¶
In the Preferences page (click in the top-right account icon) it's also possible to switch the language. By default, the UI will use the system language.
Files list interactions¶
The context menu is accessible via right click on a file or folder, in addition to the buttons that appear in the listing rows.
This menu allows users to perform typical actions even faster, for example, downloading documents or opening documents in the apps.

Details view¶
To see details of a file or folder, including extra actions (e.g. sharing or accessing version), the "open sidebar" button () appears in the top right corner, or by selecting "Details" in the context menu.

Universal URLs¶
https://cernbox.cern.ch/files/spaces/eos/user/<letter>/<username>
CERNBox, which uses the EOS storage system under the hood, now exposes its full namespace. This means most of our access methods (excluding the mobile client, for now) have a consistent and more intuitive view.
Tip
It also means that now it's possible to just copy your URL and share it directly with someone else. If that person has permissions, they will be able to open it.
This also works with direct links to applications.
Errors and support¶
If something doesn't work, an error will be displayed in the interface in the down, right corner. This message can be expanded to reveal a code of the failed action. Please send this code when opening a support ticket, as it will help our team to identify what happened.
Accessibility¶
Accessibility features have been added to the user interface. The Web UI can be controlled via keyboard, offers color contrast for better readability, and supports navigation and operation via screen reader.
